Many slate roof problems are caused by isolated broken or missing slates, deteriorated fasteners, failing copper or metal flashing, pipe penetrations, ridge and hip details, or previous improper repairs. Our team evaluates the roofing system as a whole to determine where water is entering and what actually needs to be repaired. When the existing slate remains serviceable, we prefer targeted repairs and ongoing maintenance over unnecessary replacement.

Historic Slate Roof Restoration

When a slate roof has genuinely reached the end of its serviceable life, Built By Bennett can provide complete replacement using an appropriate slate system and properly detailed flashing, underlayment, valleys, penetrations, and perimeter conditions. We do not recommend replacement simply because a roof is old. Our goal is to determine the most appropriate long-term solution for the property.
